Editing your Folksr skin used to be like black magic – cryptic HTML code, mysterious template tags, separators, and whatnot. Forget about it! Now you can just pick one of predefined skins and enjoy new Folksr widget in under 5 seconds!

Go, try it out! Sure let us know if you have nice custom skin we could use.

Folksr now works with Blogspot
Sunday, March 7th, 2010New feature: Tag filter
Sunday, June 14th, 2009May I proudly present new feature in Folksr: Tag filter. Tired of looking for posts with certain tag? Look no more. Use filter!

Posts ordering now also should work faster as there is no more need for page to reload.
Avatar or Gravatar
Saturday, May 30th, 2009You can now change your avatar directly in Folksr. Until yesterday avatar images were taken from Gravatar, which was not great for those not using Gravatar. This is no longer the case. You can upload your own avatar, just make sure it’s square.

Private Beta for Polish audience, day 1
Monday, May 25th, 2009Today was the first day of Private Beta programme for Polish audience. Invitations were sent and feedback was impressive. After squashing few bugs 10 new blogs could happily host Folksr widget. A person who greatly helped in tweaking Foksr is Rozie, so please visit his blog and play with the widget for a while (it’s soooo addictive!).
Also, password reset facility has been developed, as well as password change screen. Minor tweaks include XSLT sheet for sitemap file, XHTML compliance in Jogger.pl blog engine, better results for Similar Blogs, and follow/index rules here and there.
After one week of private beta tests for Polish audience, we are planning to extend the availability of Folksr to anyone on planet Earth!
Open for registration
Thursday, May 21st, 2009After some problems with domain transfer we are back up again. Alive and ready to accept Beta stage participants. We are now cowardly inviting early adopters!
Should you join Folksr right now please feel free to request activation code. This is to keep initial Folksr traffic under control. We will get rid of this registration code thing once we are sure there are no bugs – first impression matters and we would like to avoid offending users with some obscure errors.
Mind that it took several years for Gmail to move from Beta to final release!
PL: Folksr mówi po polsku!
Tuesday, May 5th, 2009Od dziś Folksr rozumie naszą mowę.
Folksr technology stack
Sunday, May 3rd, 2009I thought it may be a good time to talk a bit about the technology Folksr runs atop.
Our server platform is a dedicated Celeron D 1.33GHz box with half gig of RAM. It runs the fantastic operating system Ubuntu 8.10. Web pages are being served by Apache 2 and our database engine is the marvelous PostgreSQL. Folksr itself is written in PHP 5 with use of custom lightweight MVC framework.
Whether our technology choices are right or wrong we will find soon. For now it is great that they all have one thing in common – CAN DELIVER! All software is Free Software and we are very grateful to FLOSS community for donating their time and effort to get us the best tools available. Without them there would not be us, so thanks!
Bug tracker
Thursday, April 30th, 2009Bug tracker is now right here. Have you ran into problems? Any bugs occurred? Or maybe you have a suggestion on how we can improve Folksr?
Feel free to report and we will be looking into your request. (We’ll let you know once that’s done).
